The Centre for Eco-centric
Development And People’s Action (CEDAP)
is the parent organization of National Centre
for Peoples'-Action in Disaster Preparedness (NCPDP).
It was established in 1990 by a professional couple
(Rajendra Desai - a structural engineer, and Rupal
Desai - an architect). After working in U.S.A.
for over a decade in mainstream, they turned their
attention to the softer technologies
that serve people better for shelter,
water, sanitation and
energy.
From its
very inception, CEDAP is committed to the development,
demonstration and transfer of technologies, which are...
eco-friendly
sustainable
adaptable
easy to replicate
viable, cost effective
culturally appropriate
Through
their application the centre strives to work hand-in-hand
with people to promote self-help, improve
local economy, create employment, reduce hardships,
and finally, improve the quality
of their life and those of others around
them.
With
the core team of ten professionals and others
available on ready call, CEDAP brings their experience
in the field of engineering, architecture, social
sciences, planning and management to those to
whom such services are not available.
CEDAP
is one of a few organizations in the country that favors
holistic approach against the sectoral
one in its mission of promoting ecocentric development.
CEDAP is registered
as Charity Trust at Ahmedabad.
