& Seismic Retrofitting of Masonry Structures, Assessment
and Improvements of Vernacular Building Systems, and Site
Development in India, and 13 years of Diversified Civil
Engineering Experience in the USA. |

With Master’s
degree in Architecture (1975) from Pratt Institute, New
York, 20 years of diversified experience in technology
development & transfer, passive and cost effective
architecture, community based disaster rehabilitation,
development of communication media for disaster mitigation,
capacity building and confidence building in India, and
12 years of diversified architecture experience in the
USA. |

Alka Palrecha Rawal |
Ms. Alka Palrecha Rawal is a development practitioner working in India since 1992. She has done Masters in Landscape Architecture from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India. She is working with the rural communities for community based management of natural resources and specifically on the issues of water management. She is intensely involved in issues of coastal zone management and wastewater management since last decade. Her interest lies in bringing together stakeholders like Government, academia and communities for dialogue and action. |

Shri Bhanuprasad Mistry |
Shri Bhanuprasad Mistry, a Civil engineer by education, has been working first as barefoot engineer at grassroots and later as a community organizer since 1978. He has multi-faceted experience of working with a variety of organizations, especially NGOs. As a result he has excellent linkages with NGOs working on development issues and disaster preparednesss in Gujarat and elsewhere. He has worked with welknown organizations in senior positions in field as well as office. He was an active member of Disaster Preparedness Response Group, a forum for learning and sharing on the issue of disaster preparedness between years 2005 and 2008. He has contributed articles in local news papers on experience of working for disasters and lessons learnt .At present he is working with Cohesion Foundation as a senior programme officer.

30 years of experience as a community organizer, social
worker and an activist with focus on a variety of developmental
issues including Housing, Water, Sanitation, Energy,
Livelihood, and Disaster. |
